The Survivor Research Project: Ep 4

Another really good episode, with an intense Immunity Challenge. The Reward Challenge also had an interesting twist, and the reward itself was just awesome. There are actual houses in many parts of the world that are nowhere as nice. I am glad that Kim is finally gone, so that's another plus point for this episode. Usually, it's pretty boring when one tribe keeps winning everything, but I really like Koror, so I am not minding their domination at all.

Player Ratings for Episode 4:

ST: Screen Time ; Im: Impression Left ; Lk: Likeability

Kim - Ulong (booted Ep 4)
ST: 4 (interviewed a lot; and was on the chopping block, so that always guarantees air-time)
Im: 4 (said some of the most amazing things I have ever heard on this show. Eg. she needs to eat more than the others although they work harder; how unlucky she is to be stuck in a tribe of workers; that the men were useless))
Lk: 0 (I think she may be the most useless Survivor player EVER.)

Ibrehem - Ulong
ST: 2 (talked a little more this week)
Im: 1 (very bland, didn't stand up for the leadership role)
Lk: 2 (I think he seems a bit dim, and his behaviour after winning against Greg in the IC was unnecessary)

Bobby John - Ulong
ST: 2 (interviewed about Kim, talked during tribal council)
Im: 3 (massive battles against Tom, no shame in losing)
Lk: 3 (he's a little intense, but comes across only as hard on himself, and not mean spirited)

James
- Ulong
ST: 4 (leader in the RC, crowed about their wonderful latrine, bemoaning losing to a "homershexial")
Im: 4 (he made quite a few rather ignorant, red-necked remarks)
Lk: 1 (seems to be a stereotypical hick bigot. If is he isn't, he is doing a great job of fooling us.)

Stephenie - Ulong
ST: 4 (strong IC performance, shown talking extensively about the frustration of losing, interviewed on the potential men vs women dynamics)
Im: 4 (emerging as the leader figure in the trible)
Lk: 2.5 (there is something about her that screams "mean girl" but I admire her strength and guts)

Angie - Ulong
ST: 4 (did well at the IC, interviewed about being upset at James' treatment of the women)
Im: 3 (being really aggressive in celebrating victory against Caryn)
Lk: 2 (I am not sure why, but I cannot shake the feeling that she's not really all that nice if she is in the position to be not nice. She does have good attitude and combative spirit.)

Caryn - Koror
ST: 3 (interviewed complaining about Tom)
Im: 3 (left an impression as Koror's resident harpy)
Lk: 1.5 (ones of those people who always need to be unhappy about something)

Coby - Koror
ST: 4 (given the interview slot that shows us our first glimpse of alliance-dynamics in Koror, great show at IC)
Im: 4 (a lion-hearted effort at IC, winning both bouts against James)
Lk: 2.5 (I'd watch out for this one; he seems rather sneaky. I am not sure if I exactly like or dislike him, but he could make things interesting later)

Gregg - Koror
ST: 2 (one interview, shown helping with the shelter)
Im: 2 (he's not saying or doing anything that makes him stand out)
Lk: 3 (still seems a likeable enough guy)

Ian - Koror
ST: 4 (appointed leader for the RC task)
Im: 4 (selected well when asked to pick tools for the RC, seems very versatile, comes across as very bright)
Lk: 4

Janu - Koror
ST: 1 (her encounter with Kim during the RC)
Im: 1 (remember her winning the RC bout, but nothing else)
Lk: 2.5 (not getting enough from the producers to know if my initial impression is correct)

Jenn - Koror
ST: 3 (confronting Stephenie during IC, interviewed for the first time)
Im: 3 (she speaks for the first time ever, so that's something to remember. She lost both her bouts to Stephenie, but points to her for trying)
Lk: 2.5 (seems likeable enough, and I like how she fought hard against tigress Stephenie)

Katie - Koror
ST: 1 (one short interview about the RC task)
Im: 1
Lk: 2.5 (not enough to go on, but she's done nothing to irk me majorly and she seems to be pally with Ian, whom I really like)

Tom - Koror
ST: 4 (made the decision to appoint Ian as leader for RC, took charge of the task, IC giant as usual)
Im: 4 (a great IC performance again, not afraid to openly be the leader)
Lk: 4 (he is unbelievably capable, and does not seem to be an asshole, which is a nice change in this game)

Willard - Koror
ST: 2 (interviewed about Ian and Tom and how they are careful to say something nice to everyone)
Im: 4 (I think he is a sharp one; he suggests that Ian and Tom are playing nice, so he could shake things up)
Lk: 2 (okay enough, but the editing has not shown Ian's and Tom's niceness as an act, so I wonder if this is a rather cynical old man who knows his place in the team is threatened.)
